Howard Yaffe is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). He holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology From Boston University and a Masters Degree in Social Work from Simmons College School of Social Work. He has practiced social work for more than 25 years with children, adolescents, adults and families. Howard has practiced in a number of settings including residential treatment centers, special education day schools, outpatient clinics and private practice. In addition to individual therapy, Howard has had several years of experience working with groups, couples and families.
Howard works closely with each client to help them to clarify and develop their own goals and pace for treatment. He routinely combines a solution focused, cognitive behavioral approach that utilizes his clients’ innate abilities and strengths. He relies heavily on a non-judgmental, empathic style in working with his clients.
Areas of particular expertise include helping individuals with issues of depression and anxiety, interpersonal skill building, and helping families manage learning disabilities in children. He also has considerable experience with issues related to domestic violence and divorce/separation issues.
